Moi University and East Carolina University Strengthen Global Learning Partnership

Moi University and East Carolina University (ECU), USA, explored new opportunities to expand global learning, student engagement and academic collaboration during discussions held at Moi University on Wednesday, 26 August 2026.

The ECU delegation was received by Prof. Loice Maru, Ag. Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Planning and Strategy, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kiplagat Kotut.

The discussions focused on strengthening internationalisation through virtual exchange, joint academic activities, professional development and global networking.

ECU Associate Provost Jon Rezek presented the University’s global engagement initiatives, including its participation in the Global Partners in Education (GPE) network. The platform connects students and institutions through international virtual learning and collaborative activities.

The proposed collaboration would provide Moi University students with opportunities to gain international exposure, build global networks, develop cross-cultural skills and engage with peers from institutions around the world.

The meeting also explored four key areas of engagement through GPE: course-based virtual exchange, student engagement, professional development, and community and networking activities.

The Dean, School of Business and Economics, Director of Quality Assurance and Standards, Quality Management and Performance Contracting and Legal Officer will support the process.

The MOA is targeted for signing between January and April 2027.

The engagement reinforced Moi University’s commitment to internationalisation, global learning and strategic partnerships that create new opportunities for students and faculty.
