Revealed: Emma Wanyota’s ‘Killer’ Surrendered to Police after Committing the Crime

Hearing of a case in which Idi Mustafa is accused of brutally killing Vera Beauty College student Emmah Wanyota resumed on January 18, 2023, at an Eldoret High Court.

During the Wednesday court session, Veronica Muinamu, the case Investigating Officer (IO) took to the stand.

Muinamu told the court that Mustafa, the prime suspect in the case, took himself to the Moi’s Bridge Police station after killing the 21-year-old student, his former lover.

He ran to the police station while claiming that his life was in danger. He told the officers at the station that some people were after his life and that is why he had come to seek refuge at the police,” the IO attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) told the court.

She further narrated how the body of the college student was subjected to brutality – her legs and arms had been chopped off and were missing.

Idi Mustafa is facing murder charges in relation to the death of Emmah Wanyota.

He is accused of committing the crime on September 30, 2019, at her parent’s home in Moi’s bridge, Uasin Gishu County.

The mutilated body of the college student was discovered in a pool of blood at a Napier grass farm, a few metres from their family house.

At the time of her murder, she had about a month left before she completed her studies.

The suspect who has been at the Eldoret GK remand since he was arrested in connection with the inhuman act allegedly hit the deceased with a blunt object on her head and then raped her before chopping off her legs.

During previous testimonies of prosecution witnesses, the court was told that he killed Emma Wanyota after she ended their romantic relationship.

After parting ways with my sister in August, he had been threatening her and also all the male contacts in her phonebook,” Sheila Wanyota, sister to the deceased had testified.

The suspect was also described as a carpenter that was well-known to the victim’s family.

The hearing for the case resumes on February 15, 2023, when Justice Reuben Nyakundi will give further directions.
