Slain Vera Beauty College Student Emma Wanyota and Accused Killer Were in Relationship, Court Told

A High Court in Eldoret was on Thursday, November 3, 2022, told that the prime suspect in the brutal murder of a Vera Beauty College Student Emma Wanyota, Mustafa Idd, was in a relationship with the deceased.

Emma’s brother, Job Wanyota however told the court that the two had parted ways long before she was gruesomely killed.

While giving his evidence-in-chief before Eldoret High Court Judge Reuben Nyakundi, Job said the suspect started sending threatening messages to his sister after she dumped him.

The messages were sent to the deceased’s mobile phone, the court was told.

The suspect started threatening my sister and all the men in her phone contact after parting ways,” Job testified.

He also recalled that his sister had told him that the 31-year-old murder suspect once warned her that she will never graduate after offending him for ending their relationship.

Emma was a final year student at Vera Beauty College in Eldoret town. At the time she was brutally murdered, she was on an industrial attachment at a salon in Moi’s Bridge Township.

Carpenter

In his testimony, the victim’s brother also noted that the accused was a man well-known to him and the family.

He revealed that they are still using chairs and tables made by Idd who is a carpenter.

Your honour, I have known the suspect for more than five years. He was also well known to our family and his home is just about three kilometres from our home,” Job told the court.

In fact, the chairs and tables I am using in my house were made by him. Even the chairs and tables my mother is also using in her house were made by Idd,” he added.

Mustafa Idd is facing charges of killing 26-year-old Emma Wanyota. Court documents indicate that he committed the crime on September 30, 2019 at Moi’s Bridge in Uasin Gishu County.

Emma’s mutilated body was found in a pool of blood on a Napier grass farm next to her home. The legs and arms had been chopped off.

Hearing for the case is set to resume on November 7, 2022, when the last witness in the case Sadik Sabuni, the prime suspect’s younger brother will give his testimony.
