Uasin Gishu County Government through the department of Finance and Economic planning is projecting to collect at least Ksh1.4 billion in terms of revenue this financial year.
In order to achieve this, the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Finance and Economic Planning Micah Rogony has asked revenue officers to set up satellite revenue collection centres in Ward Offices, townships, trading centres and urban estates.
”If we go closer to the citizens we shall be able to collect revenues from business units that are otherwise far flung,” Rogony said.

Speaking at the county hall in Eldoret town during a meeting with heads of sections charged with revenue collection, Governor’s Economic Advisor Philip Melly on his part urged residents to embrace the drive in order to ensure the government implements its Nguzo Kumi economic plan.
“We shall deploy a sufficient number of officers and equip them with tools to ensure efficient service delivery,” added CPA Jonah Lamai, Director Revenue and Complaisance.
Pending bills
Lamai further said that clients will be required to clear pending bills before being issued new licences and certificates. This move, he noted, will mop up arrears in house rents, market stalls, and land rates.
“All rates and rents will be payable by Mobile money or bank deposits. There will be no collection by cash,” he affirmed.
“We aim to collect Kshs957 million between January and March 2023. This will translate to 47 per cent of our target,” Lamai added.

He also noted that weekly and monthly revenue targets will be introduced as a way of spotting and mitigating revenue collection.
The County Government of Uasin Gishu collected Ksh473 million between October and December 2022.
In the last financial year, the total revenue collected for the county was Ksh1.2 billion.
