Langas and Huruma Member of County Assembly (MCA) seats race for the 2027 General Election has taken a new twist.
This is after Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago pledged to support individuals who will vie for the two seats on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.
Addressing hundreds of locals who had turned up for a liturgical service and candle-lighting ceremony marking the first anniversary of the late Raila Odinga, the legislator said his support will be based on the ODM-United Democratic Alliance (UDA) working partnership.

“Hata hapa ODM si mnakumbuka 2017, kuna vile baba akifanya na mimi. Mimi naona hii 2027 turudishe mkono. Hata hapa Langas, tukijipanga mnataka kuniambia hatuwezi hama na hiyo MCA kwa ODM. Hata hii ya Huruma si tuweke?,” Mandago said.
Is Langas ward an ODM zone?
The current Langas MCA is Francis Muya, who was elected on a Jubilee ticket in 2027. Muya, who is also the Uasin Gishu County Assembly leader of minority has served as the ward rep since 2013.
He is the only other Jubilee MCA in Uasin Gishu alongside Huruma’s Kimani Wanjohi.
Langas and Huruma wards are highly cosmopolitan, and several ODM aspirants are eyeing the party’s ticket. In Langas, Florence Akinyi is popularly known as Mama Daughter is among the MCA aspirants.

But even as Mandago pledged to support an ODM candidate in Langas and Huruma, he said the party must settle on one candidate to fly its flag.
“Kwa sababu tuko broadbased, nyinyi watu wa ODM mtafanya nomination yenu. Mkishatoa candiate sis tutakuja kuunga mkono. Hapa Langas na Huruma ,” Mandago said.
Who is Mandago supporting for Uasin Gishu governorship?
On county politics, the former senator said aspirants had agreed to conduct peaceful elections.
Mandago has already fallen out with Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim, who recently accused him of meeting some of the county directors at night.

He is alleged to be supporting Tourism Principal Secretary Prof Julius Bitok’s gubernatorial bid.
“Mambo ya hapa tutakuja kupanga lakini tumekubaliana kwamba tutafanya campaign ya amani,” Mandago told hundreds of locals at the Sunday night event.
He was accompanied by Kesses Member of Parliament CPA Julius Ruto.
