Sikhendu MCA Asks Christians to Pray For George Natembeya So That He’s Not Arrested

Sikhendu ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Andrew Kutitila has appealed to Christians in Trans Nzoia County to pray for Governor George Natembeya who is said to be on the radar of law enforcement officers.

Speaking to a church gathering on the evening of Sunday May 18, 2025 evening, Kutitila claimed Natembeya was being targeted by the Kenya Kwanza administration for speaking against abductions, high taxation and unpopular policies including the 30-year lease of Nzoia Sugar Company to a private investor Jaswant Rai.

The MCA who is an ardent supporter and ally of Governor Natembeya further claimed the government’s plan to arrest the county boss is a scheme to dim his political star.

“We have heard that they now want to frustrate our Governor by arresting him either tomorrow or the following day. They are worried about his fast-rising political star and they want to destroy it by maligning him but I know through the power of your knees and tears, their evil schemes won’t succeed,” Kutitila said.

He further said that the plan to arrest the former Rift Valley Regional Commissioner is to deter him from his commitment to liberate the people of Western region especially the Luhya community from political slavery.

He added that President Ruto’s administration has been uncomfortable with Natembeya’s criticism and has always planned to see him out of office.

“If we were not bold and courageous enough, this government would have sent Natembeya home through impeachment. They have now resorted to use intimidations and framed claims of corruption. That again won’t prevail,” he added.

Speaking in Machakos on Sunday, May 18, Wiper Party Leader, Kalonzo Musyoka claimed that the government through the Ethics and Anti-graft Commission (EACC) had been granted a search warrant.

He said that EACC detectives will visit and search Natembeya’s properties, arrest and later release him.

Kalonzo said the plot to arrest the self-declared commando is aimed to tarnish his name.

“Governor Natembeya is threatened as we speak. They have obtained a search warrant to go and search his house. They just want to apprehend him and release him so that they may embarrass him before the people of Trans trans Nzoia,” the former Vice President claimed.
