Preparations for the 2025 East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) games in Kakamega County are in top gear ahead of the official opening ceremony slated for 3rd August 2025.
The County will also host the National secondary school games from 29th July – 2nd August, 2025.
Kakamega CECM for Social Services, Sports, Youths, Gender and Culture Ms Jackline Masicha, together with members of the organising committee inspected ongoing upgrade of facilities at Kakamega School, Bukhungu Stadium and Kakamega Police canteen and expressed satisfaction at the ongoing works.

“Most of our facilities are ready to host this decorated extravaganza; Bukhungu stadium which is earmarked to play host to the opening and/or closing ceremony will be ready by then as upgrade works at the iconic facility are way ahead of planned schedule,” Ms Masicha said, revealing that the playing surface will be installed with an artificial turf.
She was flanked by Chief Officers Mr Saxon Kweyu (Sports and Youths) and Ms Christine Oside (Social Services, Gender and Culture).
Some of the sports disciplines that will be showcased include; soccer, rugby, tennis, basketball, badminton, hockey, netball, handball, chess, scrabble and cricket among others.

Kakamega County teams, fresh from victory in various disciplines at the regional tourney held in Mumias, are expected to give a strong account of themselves both at the national and East Africa stage.
Participants at the latter are drawn from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda and South Sudan as well as other parts of Africa and Europe.
