All students that were expected to join form one and grade 7 in Uasin Gishu county have reported to their respective schools.
According to the Uasin Gishu County Director of Education Khalif Isaack Hassan already learning in the schools in going on smoothly.
“We have done 100 per cent junior secondary and 100 per cent form one admission,” Isaack told journalists in his office.
Admission for junior secondary learners (Grade 7) and Form one has been ongoing since early February 2023.
About 2 million learners were expected to join form one and grade 7 nationally.

The county director further said the Teachers Commission (TSC) has deployed 800 teachers for junior secondary in the county.
He said the sub-county directors and TSC officials have already done the distribution of workload for the teachers.
Isaac also noted that all Junior secondary schools will soon receive capitation from the national government.
“800 teachers have been deployed. 430 schools have been registered under junior secondary, and their account has been transmitted to Nairobi so anytime from now the government will release capitation to help the continuity of learning under junior secondary,” said the County Director.
“Minister of Education has not issued fee structure for Junior secondary and therefore the was no expense. Textbooks will also come through the government,” he added.

The government has committed to providing a Ksh15,000 capitation for every learner in Junior secondary across the country.
The funds are meant to support schools in infrastructure development among other expenses.
