The Uasin Gishu Department of Roads, Transport and Public Works has allocated two graders and a roller in every sub-county to enhance the ongoing rapid results initiative program for grading and gravelling works across the county.
Over 800 kilometres of roads have so far been improved in a time frame of three months since it was launched by Governor Jonathan Bii.
County Executive Committee Member for Roads, Transport and Public Works Eng. Joseph Lagat, while speaking to staff under the transport section said all the heavy machines are in good condition to improve existing roads and open new ones before the onset of the expected heavy rains.

“As a department, we are committed and will continue to support you with necessary equipment and tools required and ensure the machines are working at all times,” said Eng. Lagat.
“We will introduce a way of recognizing and rewarding operators who stand out in their work so that we continue motivating hard work,” he added.
He further noted that the department has plans to train all mechanics and operators to equip them with more skills on emerging issues in areas of modern technology and new machines in the market.
On his part, Acting Chief Officer Roads Eng. Julius Ronoh thanked the operators for their dedication that has seen the department make major strides in the improvement of road infrastructure which is key to farmers for ease of access to markets for their farm products.

Eng. Ronoh encouraged the operators to embrace frequent communication with the senior management for timely solutions to their challenges.
