The County Government of Uasin Gishu has outlined plans to fast-track infrastructure projects to achieve Governor Dr Jonathan Bii’s objectives under pillar six of his agenda: infrastructure development for prosperity.
County Executive for Roads Eng. Joseph Lagat announced that in this financial year, the program will include grading over 1,000 kilometres and gravelling 600 kilometres, marking a significant step toward enhancing the county’s infrastructure.
CECM Eng. Lagat, who was in Racecourse Ward on Thursday with area member of County Assembly Amos Kiptanui to inspect the gravelling of roads within the new Midland estate, said an improvement program for roads that were destroyed due to heavy rainfall is underway.

“This gravelling exercise is one of the many projects underway. Despite financial constraints, we are committed to maximizing our own sourced revenue on priority projects,” he said.
In addition, Eng. Lagat acknowledged that delayed funding has posed financial challenges but emphasized the county’s determination to effectively utilize available resources to ensure the progress of key infrastructure projects.
The area MCA commended the County Roads Department and the Governor for their continued support and dedication to delivering quality projects.
“The new roads will greatly enhance the transportation of goods and services. We ask residents to remain patient as we work through the financial challenges affecting the implementation of some projects across all county governments,” he stated.

He further stated that the county leadership remains committed to delivering quality service, announcing his plan to distribute bursary funds to support students in need next week.
