Uasin Gishu Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii has officially launched the construction of Moiben Sub-County Hospital.
The move is part of Bii’s efforts to enhance the county’s health sector.
Speaking during the site handover to the contractor on Thursday, June 26, 2025, Dr. Bii reaffirmed his commitment to making health a top priority.
“We want every resident to access quality, specialised services close to home, and this project must be completed on time,” he emphasised.

The Governor also urged the contractor to provide job opportunities to residents, ensuring that the project benefits the community beyond healthcare.
County Health Executive Committee Member Eng. Joseph Lagat and Finance counterpart Micah Rogony pledged close cooperation with both the contractor and the community to fast-track the project’s delivery.
Eng. Lagat further encouraged residents to register with the Social Health Authority (SHA) to fully benefit from the upcoming services.
The contractor committed to completing the facility within a year, setting a new benchmark for infrastructure delivery in the county.
Services at Moiben sub-county hospital
Once complete, the Moiben Sub-County Hospital will feature outpatient services, an emergency wing, and a radiology unit on the ground floor, operating theatres, wards, paediatrics, and administration offices on the first floor and private and general wards on the second floor.

The third floor will host laundry facilities and a children’s playground.
Works on the Moiben Sub-County Hospital started a few weeks after the Eldoret High Court directed the county to pay a contractor who was initially awarded the tender for the project Ksh 1 billion.
The contractor moved to court to challenge the county’s decision to cancel his tender.
However, the county indicated that it would appeal the ruling.
