The Uasin Gishu County Government’s Department of Roads, Transport, and Public Works is keen on improving employee well-being to enhance service delivery.
While meeting the fire brigade team at the Eldoret main fire station on Thursday, March 13, 2025, Roads Chief Officer Geoffrey Kirwa said the department will consider areas such as training, good recreational facilities, increasing the number of personnel, buying personal protective equipment (PPEs) like fire tunics and uniforms, and communication gadgets/radio calls, among others.
“I would like to thank you for your dedication and commitment. Your response to fire outbreaks has been quite good, the governor has also really appreciated it. Continue with the same spirit, we will support you,” Kirwa said.
“We are looking for more fire engines to enhance services and improve the overall performance,” he added.

The Director Transport and Mechanical Services, who is also acting Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management Officer Lazarus Sile, applauded the team for doing an exemplary job and confirmed that the department was at an advanced stage in the process of acquiring new firefighting and personal protective equipment.
“We will work with what we have in the budget to ensure to ensure fire fighting personnel are well catered for,” Sile noted.
The in-charge fire Officer, David Sitati and the team expressed their gratitude to the chief officer for his concern and efforts to improve their well-being.
