The Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) has approved Tot Sub County Hospital as a suitable facility for clinical rotations for Kenya Enrolled Community Health Nursing (KECHN) students from KMTC Kerio Valley.
In a letter dated October 15, 2026, addressed to Elgeyo Marakwet County Health CECM Monica Jeptum Rotich, the Council said the approval followed an assessment which found that the hospital had successfully implemented the necessary measures to ensure effective and efficient patient care.
The approved rotations cover medical, surgical, maternity and maternal and child health (MCH) experience.
The Council said the approval would ensure that KMTC Kerio Valley students have access to high-quality training in key clinical areas, thereby enhancing their learning and professional development.

“Thank you for your continued collaboration in advancing nursing education and practice,” the letter signed by Registrar/CEO Dr. Lister Onsongo stated.
The CECM welcomed the decision, adding that the move is expected to strengthen clinical training for KECHN students in the region and expand their practical exposure at the sub-county hospital.
Tot Sub County Hospital is currently undergoing major improvements, with construction of a new outpatient unit ongoing.
The facility also has a complete, modern and fully equipped 26 bed Mother and Baby Unit with a Newborn Unit, a theatre, antenatal and postnatal wards, and a delivery unit.
