The County Government of Uasin Gishu is working on forging a partnership with the Institute of Engineers of Kenya.
On Friday, officials from the County Department of Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development held discussions with those from the Institute of Engineers of Kenya representatives on areas of collaboration to ensure that professional advice is fully endorsed in project execution.
Director of Housing Ms Beatrice Menjo hosted the team from IEK and assured them that their professional advice was welcome and a key component for the County to achieve an optimum outcome in projects.
IEK North Rift Chair Eng. Patrick Otwoma, noted and appreciated the various projects that are currently underway majorly within Eldoret town.

He also lauded the improvements seen within the town as it anticipates the city’s status.
Street lighting program
On the ongoing street lighting program, Eng. Otwoma said a key factor of consideration was testing so as to determine quality and strength to achieve desired outcomes in the process.
He said that going forward, the team would carry out testing of lights before installation on the Highways.
Further, it was suggested that the testing site would be the arboretum and once the team of engineers are satisfied with the specifications they would then recommend the contractor to transfer them to the highway.

County Director Urban Development Planner Jacktone Kiprop while accompanying the team on a site visit to the Korosiot Roundabout and Nandi Park beautification projects also discussed modern fountain models for improvement of the Central Business District (CBD) on the existing roundabouts.
Also present during the site visits was Eng. Faith Koome of the Kenya Power, Eng. Roselyn Sugut, Planner Charles Kimani, Eng. Benjamin Maiyo and the project Contractor.
