West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin on December 7, 2022, released assorted hospital drugs and non-pharmaceuticals worth Ksh35 million to various health facilities across the County.
While flagging off the consignment from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), Governor Kachapin said the acquisition seeks to deal with drug shortages that have hit public health centres for a long time, disrupting the provision of essential medical services.
The governor further said his administration will continue to collaborate with the County Assembly to ensure no disruptions of essential services.

Governor Kachapin however gave a stern warning that those who misuse the drugs will face severe disciplinary actions.
Deputy Governor Robert Komolle on his part applauded the medical fraternity for their continued efforts and commitment to providing medical care to residents of West Pokot County.
The deputy governor also assured medics and county residents that all health facilities in the county will have an adequate supply of drugs.

The governor and his deputy were flanked by Batei Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Yusuf Long’iro Batei who is in charge of the County Assembly’s Health Committee and other MCAs, Health and Sanitation County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Claire Parklea among other health officials.
