Kesses Member of Parliament Dr Swarup Mishra on Thursday, July 7, 2022, launched the inaugural Mishra Cup Football tournament.
The tournament will see 32 teams drawn from all wards of the Kesses Constituency battle for the grand price of Ksh250,000 that will be awarded to the winners.
Speaking during the launch of the tournament at the Eldoret Sports Club, the Kesses MP expressed the need for the government to put in place policies that will help nurture talents.

“Youths should be given priority in talent development. Young boys and girls have a talent that can be nurtured with proper facilities and funding,” said the legislator.
He said Mishra Cup is part of his efforts to help the young generation identify their talents – which they can use to prosper in life.
The legislator also challenged the youth not to have a confirmed mindset that a certain talent is a preserve of a specific tribe or community.
He pointed out that through Mishra Cup, he hopes to propel the Kesses constituency as a leader in football not only in Uasin Gishu but also across the North Rift region.

“This is an initiative we hope to build on and ensure our youth have a better future by making good use of their talents,” Dr Mishra said.
The MP also promised to incorporate the women’s football team in the second edition of the Mishra Cup.
He pledged to come up with an initiative that will encourage the formation of more women’s football teams that will participate in the tournament next year.
“We will first start by investing in our girls so that by the time we roll out our second edition, there will be enough teams to participate in the tournament,” Dr Mishra said.

The Mishra Cup Football tournament will be played across Kesses Constituency where the winner will be awarded Ksh250,000, the first runners up Ksh125,000 while the second runners up will be awarded Ksh75,000.
Numerous medals will also be awarded to various individual winners.
