New students at the Eldoret National Polytechnic have been asked to respect the rules and regulations of the institution. This was the clarion call during their induction on Thursday, June 27.
The induction was for all freshers of January and May intake of 2024.
The institution’s head of guidance and cancelling department Peris Ngala noted that the induction was meant to ensure that the new students familiarize themselves with The Eldoret National Polytechnic culture.
“There are many things that we think the first years should know like the academic policy so that they can conduct themselves correctly and finish their courses on time,” said Ngala.

She also added that students should remain healthy mentally and in case of any problems they should seek guidance and counseling.
Embrace positive behaviour
On his part, deputy principal academics James Mwangi affirmed to the students that they were at the right place and that they should embrace positive behaviour and avoid destructive ones.
He further urged them to prioritize studying – which brought them to the Institution.
“Trainee’s discipline is very important and those who don’t observe rules and regulations will appear in disciplinary committee. Cheating in examination is not allowed and those who will be caught cheating will be discontinued and allowed to repeat the whole course,” said Mwangi.

Speaking after the event, Mourene Mulwa who is a psychology student at the institution pledged to invest her time productively. Mulwa noted that skipping classes and exams brings no value to the students.
“If you want to achieve your academic goals, you have to do what brought you into this institution including attending classes so that you won’t be discontinued,” said the psychology student.
Over 1,000 first-year students joining for the January and May intakes participated in the induction held at the Eldoret National Polytechnic main campus.
