Nandi Hills Member of Parliament Alfred Keter now says it is up to the will of God as voters go to the polls on Tuesday, August 9, 2022.
Keter is among candidates that are seeking the support of the voters to get back to parliament.
He is vying on an independent ticket, a decision that has seen him come under fire for the rest of the campaign period.

Nandi Hills, one of the constituencies in Nandi County is predominantly a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) perceived stronghold and by going independent, he has faced opposition from all quarters.
The legislator seeking his third term was initially in UDA and won the nomination, but his certificate was controversially withdrawn and handed over to his main rival Bernard Kitur who finished second in the primaries.
It is after this decision that he announced he will be on the ballot as an independent candidate.

“I am officially an independent candidate. May the will of the People of Nandi Hills prevail come August 9th. Happy Holidays everyone!!,” Alfred Keter said in a tweet dated April 28, 2022.

His candidature has seen the might and the common allied to UDA campaign against it.
In his last visit to the constituency, Deputy President William Ruto asked locals to reject Keter and vote for UDA’s Bernard Kitur.
“All over the country people are supporting and will vote for UDA candidates, why only here do you want to vote for an independent?” the DP asked the locals.

But with just hours to the August 9 general election, the legislator says it has been a good campaign race that he successfully finished, and what is remaining is the will of God to prevail.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith”. May the will of God prevail!!!” the MP said.
Alfred Keter contested against Kitur in 2017 on a Jubilee ticket and won. The politician later moved to court to challenge the results accusing the legislator of campaigning past the official period, but the win was upheld.
It now remains in the hands of voters in Nandi Hills either to give the incumbent a third term or support a new leader in Bernard Kitur.
