Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has faulted the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) for its decision to summon singer Millicent Jerotich alias Marakwet Daughter.
NCIC summoned the singer to appear before it on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, over her latest song ‘Arap Ruto’.
According to the commission, words used in the song are likely to incite feelings of ethnic contempt, hatred, and hostility and affect harmonious coexistence between different ethnic communities in the country.
But while the commission said it was probing the singer, the Kapseret MP said she should be left alone.
In a post on his Facebook page, the vocal legislator claimed there were over 50 names that should have been summoned instead of going for the singer.
“This lady has a chance ya kueleweka, ACHANENI NAYE,” Sudi said.
“I’ve got a list of about 50 names that would be a much better use of your time instead of this nonsense,” he added.

Marakwet Daughter, famous for her hit song ‘Mali Safi Chito’ recently released the ‘Arap Ruto’ song in which she calls out President William Ruto.
The song created a buzz online.
Among the issues the song addresses is the new National Hospital Insurance Fund (SHIF), which has left Kenyans questioning its effectiveness and the new higher education funding model.
