Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim alias Koti Moja on Saturday joined the Alumni Association of Arnesen’s High School in celebrating 51 years since it was established.
Koti Moja was a student at the school between 1986 and 1989 for his secondary school education.
According to the Governor, it was during his time at Arnesen’s High School that his leadership skills were nurtured.
He served as a Christian Union (CU) chairperson while in Form Two before later becoming the school head boy.

“It was also during my time at the school that I served as the Christian Union (CU) chairman in Form two, where I began my journey of ministering God’s word – a passion that still burns brightly within me to this day,” Koti Moja said in a post on his Facebook page.
“Ultimately, I rose to the rank of school head boy, a position that nurtured my leadership capacity and enabled me to serve humanity in all spheres of life,” he added.
Chelilim was elected the second Governor of Uasin Gishu during the August 9, 2022 general election.
He won the seat against three other competitors and took over leadership from pioneer governor Jackson Mandago.

It is the first time that Koti Moja had won an elective political position after over 15 years of failed attempts for the Soy parliamentary seat.
Improve infrastructure
Meanwhile, the commemoration of Arnesen’s High School’s 51 years since inception gave the governor a rare opportunity to unite with former classmates in an event filled with fond memories of his stay at the institution.
“As we reminisced, we could not help but recall what we referred to as “the survival for the fittest” in the dining hall, where we would wake up early morning to queue for Uji, an unforgettable scramble,” Chelilim said.
But even as they celebrated a reunion, the county boss challenged all former students at the school to join hands in putting up a credible framework to marshal resources for the construction of an ultra-modern library, a well-equipped laboratory, and an ultra-modern dining hall.

“We also discussed the need to address the acute water shortage at the institution to help achieve starling performance for posterity,” he said.
