Fireworks are expected this weekend at Lobo Village on the outskirts of Eldoret Town as big names battle for glory in the second edition of the Sirikwa Classic World Cross Country Tour.
The event is scheduled for this Saturday.
Eyes will be on the women’s senior race as defending champion Faith Kipyegon seeks to retain the title.
The double world champion will, however, face stiff competition from several big names, among them reigning World Cross Country Champion Beatrice Chebet and in red-hot form Edinah Jebitok.

World 3000m steeplechase bronze medalist Faith Cherotich and Commonwealth Games 3000m steeplechase champion Jackline Chepkoech are also invited alongside World Cross Country junior bronze medalist Pamela Kosgei.
Kipyegon won the Sirikwa Classic World Cross Country Tour in February 2023 after clocking 33:50 ahead of Chepkoech who finished second.
Sirikwa Classic World Cross Country Tour men’s race

2018 World Under 20 5000m champion Edward Zakayo, world 3000m steeplechase bronze medalist Abraham Kibiwot, world half marathon champion Sabastian Sawe and Leonard Bett are also lined up for the race in the city of champions.
