Chepsaita Cross Country: County Closely Monitoring Preparations

The County Government of Uasin Gishu is actively participating in preparation for the upcoming second edition of Chepsaita Cross Country, a World Athletics gold level race.

The Department of Youth Affairs and Sports is actively supervising preparations for the international race that is scheduled for December 7, 2024 in Chepsaita.

Officers from the Department of Health, Roads and Sports are closely monitoring the progress.

Already, dozers, grass lawn equipment and other heavy machinery are on the ground to ready Uasin Gishu to host the world on the Hills of Chepsaita.

County Directors Meshack Chemwor (Youth Affairs) and Henry Mukolwe (Administration and Planning – Sports) visited the site on Tuesday.

Robert Ng’isirei, coordinating the preparations at the site said: “The County Government has provided us with road machinery which is working in and around the site. We thank His Excellency the Governor and all other service providers assisting us in the preparations.”

Mukolwe further said: “His Excellency the Governor (Dr Jonathan Bii) is very passionate about this event being a talent-nurturing event and an event that brings the world to Uasin Gishu.”

Mukolwe said the preparations are in top gear and added that the Governor is making frequent inquiries on the progress.

The theme being “Running for Education” is a worthy cause as it will assist and take to class hundreds of youth who are in different levels of education. It is a good event for the society,” Chemwor added.
