Former Kiminini Constituency Member of Parliament Chris Wamalwa has dismissed reports that he has agreed to support Governor George Natembeya’s second term bid in 2027.
Speaking on Monday to a Kitale-based community radio station, Wamalwa, who vied for the Trans Nzoia gubernatorial seat in 2022, stated that he is not interested in the Senate seat.
He described those spreading the claims as propagandists.

“As soon as he (Natembeya) was elected the second Governor of Trans Nzoia, I congratulated him and told him that I would support him in delivering to the great people of Trans Nzoia. All you hear that I will be running for the Senate position is pure propaganda because I will be there to challenge Natembeya,” Wamalwa said.
Why Chris Wamalwa has taken a low political profile
The vocal lawmaker who served for two terms in the National Assembly said his silence from Trans Nzoia politics is to accord all elected leaders time to deliver their campaign promises.
“The people of Trans Nzoia gave Natembeya a mandate to serve them. I told him he would never see me trying to sabotage him or his administration because I want him to perform his best. The people will mark his report card in 2027,” he stated.
Wamalwa, who had been appointed a Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) for Water and Sanitation before the positions were declared unconstitutional maintained a low profile after losing the contest to Natembeya.
He recently made a public appearance when he attended a burial ceremony in Saboti.
Political pundits in Trans Nzoia argue that Wamalwa’s current political modus operandi is working to his advantage.
They note that his decision not to rub shoulders with Natembeya makes him a darling of the electorates.
On July 21, 2024, a photo of Natembeya together with Wamalwa and the Bishop Emeritus of the Catholic Diocese of Kitale, Anthony Crowley went viral online.

The photo evoked mixed reactions from supporters of the two politicians.
Mid this year, another photo of the former MP together with Eugene Wamalwa, the party leader of the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) was shared. The two were at the residence of Chris Wamalwa.
Those in the know say that the duo resolved to bury their political differences.
Natembeya who vied on a DAP-K ticket garnered 158,919 votes to win the seat against Wamalwa who had 79,020 votes.
The former legislator was a Ford Kenya candidate.
