Uasin Gishu County Executive Member for Roads, Transport and Public Works Eng. Joseph Lagat on Tuesday led County officials together with Langas ward project Identification Committee members during a public participation forum that sought to gather views and input from the residents on key development areas of focus by Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii, under the 2024/25 financial year.
Langas is among the most populated wards in Uasin Gishu with an estimated population of about 200,000 residents.
While moderating the forum which was also attended by different community groups and opinion leaders from the ward, CECM Eng. Lagat outlined the key six areas of focus by Governor Dr Bii as he emphasised the importance of the resident’s role and involvement in the decision-making process in project identification and allocation of funds for development.

“Our Governor has good plans, under the Roads, Transport and Public Works department the county will establish an asphalt plant for processing of bitumen. This will include a stone crusher bitumen boiler and spreader. The plant will play a big role in enabling us to construct long-lasting tarmacked roads that don’t need frequent maintenance at an affordable cost,” he noted.
Goodies for Langas ward
CECM Eng Lagat adds: “Through a partnership with Rerec, we will pursue transformer maximisation. We shall allocate Ksh.2.5 Million per ward and we expect another 2.5 Million from Ward Development Fund to aggregate Ksh.5 million per ward. Total allocation will therefore be Ksh.150 Million. This means installing 120 transformers with an average of four transformers per ward.”
He also said other key areas for the county Governor include Education and Vocational training Centres that will be allocated an additional Ksh.60 Million, Department of Water, Irrigation and Sanitation with an additional allocation of Ksh.15 Million per ward and another 15 Million from Ward Development Fund, Agriculture and Agribusiness, additional Ksh.5 Million per ward for Health Services.

Further, the CECM stated that Governor Dr Bii’s administration is keen on democracy and good governance principles of transparency and accountability by involving the residents of Uasin Gishu in decision-making on issues affecting them.
