Winners for the inaugural Iten International Marathon will finally be awarded in a ceremony slated for next week.
This is after the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) and Athletics Kenya (AK) gave the green light for the athletes to be feted.
In a poster shared on the Elgeyo Marakwet County Government’s official Facebook page, the ceremony will be held on June 15, 2023, at Treasury Grounds in Iten.
“After approval by ADAK and Athletics Kenya, we shall have the prize giving on 15th June 2023,” read part of the poster.

The Iten International Marathon was held on December 18, 2022.
Speaking during the launch of the marathon, Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich said winners of the 42-kilometre race, both male and female categories will get a cash prize of Ksh1 million each.
Samuel Naibei and Caroline Jepchirchir won the male and female races in the times of 2:08:43 and 2:28:33, respectively.
Finishing in second and third place in the men’s division was Joshua Kogo in the time of 2:10:35, while Albert Kangogo took third clocking a time of 2:11:46.
In the women’s race, Sussy Chemaimak finished second after she clocked a 2:33:49 finish time while Mary Kipkemoi took third position (2:35:09).
