Eldoret City Marathon Lands New Sponsors, Opens Registration for 5th Edition

The Eldoret City Marathon has announced securing a new partnership.

Race founder and Director Moses Tanui on Wednesday said the marathon had secured the partnership with Gulf Royal Society, Economic Group Holdings, and Supreme Cosmetics Manufacturers.

The company is owned by Sheikh Majid Al Qassimi, a member of the Ruling family of Sharjah.

This exciting collaboration marks the beginning of a new era for the marathon, and we are thrilled to welcome athletes and participants from around the world to join us in this extraordinary event,” Tanui, a former athlete told journalists in Eldoret.

The Gulf Royal Society, Economic Group Holdings, and Supreme Cosmetics Manufacturers LLC are renowned for their commitment to community development and nurturing talents.

According to Tanui, as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility to humanity, they have pledged to extend their wide range of benefits and helping hand to the local communities in Kenya.

This sponsorship is a testament to their dedication to growing and positioning talents within the athletics fraternity,” he noted.

In addition, the Gulf Royal Society, Economic Group Holdings, and Supreme Cosmetics Manufacturers LLC plan to make their products, including Dana baby products and LUV personal care products, readily available to consumers.

Moreover, they intend to set up a manufacturing facility in Kenya, contributing to job creation and technology exchange, thereby strengthening the economic landscape.

After the initial sponsorship of this year’s edition, the Gulf Royal Society, Economic Group Holdings, and Supreme Cosmetics Manufacturers LLC envision a long-term partnership with the Eldoret City Marathon,” noted the former athlete .

Among the long term partnership include establishing a state-of-the-art training facility in Eldoret, meeting international standards, and making it a hub for advanced athletic training as well as talent development.

Eldoret City Marathon registration open

With the new sponsors on board, the marathon organizers now say registration for athletes who wish to participate is open.

The race is scheduled to be held on October 1, 2023.

Registration fee has since been set for Ksh1,500 per athlete.

It can be done by visiting the Eldoret City Marathon offices at Grandpri Building in Eldoret or utilizing through their online platform.

The Eldoret City Marathon whose aim is to promote climate action, local talent development, community as well as healthy living offers two races; a 42.195KM marathon race and a 5KM fun race.

Since its launch, winners of the marathon are awarded Ksh3.5 million with a total prize money of Ksh18 million – making it rank among the highest paying marathons in Africa.
