An Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) leader in Uasin Gishu County has called on politicians to stop engaging in early politics and making inflammatory remarks that are causing unnecessary anxiety in the country.
Speaking at ACK St. Matthew’s Church in Eldoret City on Sunday, November 1, 2026, the Acting Provost of the church, Reverend Nicholas Rotich, criticised politicians for failing to wait for the official campaign period as scheduled by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), saying it amounts to a violation of the law.
He also challenged the media not to give politicians a platform to spread their political wrangles, but instead to focus on content that empowers Kenyans and offers solutions to the challenges facing them.
“I challenge the media fraternity not to give politicians prominence to spread their conflicts through the media, but to provide content that helps in empowerment and in finding solutions to the problems affecting Kenyans,” he said.
Citing the example of the late former Anglican Bishop Alexander Muge, Reverend Rotich urged church leaders not to remain silent as the nation loses direction and fails to speak out against evils in society. He faulted church leaders who use their positions and influence to manipulate the masses.

He also urged politicians to tone down inflammatory talk, saying leadership and political positions should not create the kind of anxiety currently being witnessed in the country.
“Leaders come and go. Since time immemorial, leaders have always existed. Politics should not cause enmity and wrangles. I urge all Kenyans to uphold good morals so that we can have a better nation,” he stated.
At the same time, Reverend Rotich advised both church and political leaders to focus on laying a strong foundation for future generations and ensuring that the voiceless in society are heard, while shunning pride.
He further urged parents to be vigilant with their children during this long holiday and to find meaningful activities to keep them engaged.
“This is a long holiday, and every parent should ensure their children are protected so that they don’t engage in unbecoming behaviours,” he said.
