The County Government of Uasin Gishu, through the Department of Social Services, has come to the aid of a mother who gave birth to triplets in Koitebes village, Cheptiret/Kipchamo ward, Kesses Sub-county.
A team from the social services visited the family with foodstuff, clothing and bedding.
Mary Morogo, the mother of 10, with an entrant of triplets had mixed feelings.
However, as happy as she was about the triple blessing, she was extremely worried about how she was going to provide for her needs, as she has always depended on the meagre wages she earns from tending people’s farms with her husband Reuben Morogo.

“I am happy with the blessings to the triplets, but honestly I didn’t expect. My challenge is now how to feed and shelter them. I thank H.E Governor Dr Jonathan Bii, E.G.H and the other well-wishers for the donations,” she said.
Chief Officer for Social Services Eunice Suter further noted that the family house is in deplorable condition and cannot sustain the upbringing of the young babies.
“The family lives on the edge of poverty and in despair, caring for the triplets will be overwhelming hence urgent measures need to be done by volunteering people to ensure that they get basic needs,” the CO said.
The County Government of Uasin Gishu, the office of Member of Parliament Kesses constituency and the community have committed to constructing a house for the family.
Policy on shelter for the vulnerable
Meanwhile, the Director for Social Service, Peter Ruto said, “We have a draft policy in place which champions access to shelter to the vulnerable members in the society awaiting re-submission to the cabinet for approval.”

He also reiterated the county’s commitment to ensuring welfare for the less fortunate in the community.
Asbel Choge, an assistant Administrator and other social workers were present during the presentation of the donations.
