The County Government of Nandi continues to strengthen strategic partnerships aimed at transforming agriculture and improving the livelihoods of farmers across the county.
On June 12, 2026, the County Government joined Heifer International in the rollout of the Transforming Yield Through Feed and Fodder Access in Dairy (TYFFAD) Project, a flagship initiative designed to enhance farmer incomes and resilience through sustainable fodder production, conservation, and improved market access.
The TYFFAD Project seeks to address one of the key challenges facing the dairy sector—access to quality feed and fodder—by promoting sustainable fodder production systems, strengthening value chains, and improving productivity among smallholder dairy farmers.
Through this intervention, farmers will be better positioned to increase milk yields, reduce production costs, and improve household incomes.
How many Nandi farmers will benefit from county-Heifer international partnership?
The project targets over 15,000 smallholder farming households, representing approximately 50,000 farmers, and will directly benefit dairy farmers, fodder producers, fodder entrepreneurs, and dairy cooperatives.

It also seeks to strengthen value chain actors, including feed processors, financial institutions, private0 investors, and both county and national government agencies.
Nandi County is among the key implementation areas of this transformative initiative, which will run from 2025 to 2029 with support from Heifer International and strategic partners from the research, private sector, and cooperative movements.
This partnership is expected to boost dairy productivity, improve fodder availability throughout the year, create employment opportunities for youth and women, strengthen dairy cooperatives, and enhance food security and economic growth across the county.
The County Government of Nandi remains committed to working closely with development partners such as Heifer International to deliver sustainable agricultural solutions that empower farmers, strengthen cooperatives, and build resilient farming communities capable of driving the county’s agricultural transformation agenda.
