The renovation is expected to spur development in the region.

As a County, we want to ensure Eldoret is a smart town by upgrading the facilities that we have. We will also upgrade the drainage systems and re-carpet the whole bus terminus,” Eng. Kiptalam said.

In addition, the Chief Officer said the renovation call has been a subject of concern for matatu operators and commuters for a long time. This is because of challenges of poor drainage and potholes and that the renovation is expected to end frequent complaints over its dilapidated state.

Previously Eldoret Bus terminus has been inaccessible, especially during rainy seasons, thus affecting people who operate their businesses and commuters in this terminus,” noted Eng Kiptalam.

The Eldoret terminus acts as a central point for Matatus and busses plying Nairobi, Nakuru, Kisumu, and Baringo among other areas across the Country.

It serves approximately 5,000 people daily.
