All drivers and heavy machinery operators employed by the County Government of Uasin Gishu have been asked to ensure they renew their licenses before January 2024. This is to avoid being denied access to county vehicles, machinery, and other accessories.

While addressing the County Drivers, Mechanics, and Operators on Monday during a meeting held at the County Yard, Roads, Transport, and Public Works Chief Officer Engineer Abraham Kiptalam said the Transport section will only clear and give work tickets to those who will have put their documents of operation in order.

I would like you to use the period that we are going to break for Christmas to go cyber and ensure you renew your licenses before January,” Eng. Kiptalam advised.

He also thanked the team for playing a crucial role in service to the people of Uasin Gishu and their dedication that led to the department being rated second-best country by one of the renowned pollsters recently.

Further, Engineer Kiptalam asked the drivers not to personalize the county vehicles and instead ensure they are parked at the Yard by 5 p.m. – unless one has an authorization letter to operate beyond working hours.

All County vehicles fall under the transport section and can be designated to any department. Avoid personalizing the vehicles because we all work for one County Government,” Eng. Kiptalam noted.

Further, the Chief Officer cautioned the drivers against misuse of fuel saying measures have been put in place to monitor proper utilization of fuel through the county portal that accesses all information on fuel cards issued to the drivers.

Promotion for county drivers and operators

He revealed that the team will also be beneficiaries of the ongoing discussions by Governor Jonathan Bii, EGH and the County Public Service Board to promote county staff who have stagnated without promotions for many years.
