The Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP) has partnered with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to enhance the credibility and transparency of its upcoming student elections, scheduled for May.
During a sensitization forum held at the institution, IEBC officials urged students to maintain peace before, during, and after the elections. The session brought together student election observers and members of the TENP electoral body.
IEBC Kesses Returning Officer Mathew Chenger assured students that the commission, in collaboration with the institution’s electoral team, is committed to delivering a free, fair, and credible election.
“Once you are appointed as a commissioner, you become the highest organ of the electoral system. Integrity must always guide your decisions,” said Chenger, encouraging student commissioners to remain independent and impartial throughout the process.

In addition, Kesses Deputy IEBC Commissioner Paul Rono reaffirmed the Commission’s support, pledging to provide the necessary materials for the election.
“We will support you throughout the voting process, including the provision of writing materials and pens for all commissioners,” he stated.
In a move to promote issue-based campaigns, TENP expressed interest in hosting a student debate. IEBC officials welcomed the idea and offered to support the initiative to ensure professionalism and order.
Eldoret National Polytechnic is one of the biggest institution of higher learning. It hosts students from across the country.
