The Eldoret National Polytechnic has for the last one week been hosting the national ball games for the Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI).
Hundreds of technical students participating in various games have all been camped at the institution located a few kilometres from the Eldoret Town Centre.
Most of the students we spoke were impressed with the environment at the institution.
“I love the environment. It’s very conducive with many trees and for sure I’m happy being here,” said Shamim Barissa, a student from the North Coast Medical College.

Barisa is part of a basketball team from the college participating in the KATTI ball games.
They traveled over 800 kilometres to take part in the national championships.
Despite the tiresome journey, the hospitality of their hosts at the Eldoret National Polytechnic has already eased the tiresome journey.
“The sisterhood we have received is really great. On the pitch we are opponents but off pitch we are still friends. This is a networking platform and a chance to make new friends,” she said.
Similar sentiments were also shared by Sikri Technical Training Institute of the Blind and Deaf Principal Emanuel Ng’etich.

Ng’etich further admitted that their reception and treatment by the hosts – Eldoret National Polytechnic – was near perfect.
“We thank the administration of this institution. The hospitality we have received here is super good,” he said.
The Eldoret National Polytechnic is among the prestigious TVETA approved institutions in the country.
It further offers training in several technical courses with over 5,000 students – making it among the biggest polytechnics nationally.
