What improvements are planned for Kahoya market?
The facelift, which includes the construction of a market shade and installation of cabro pavements, aims to provide a safer, cleaner, as well as more organized trading environment for local vendors.

Speaking during the handover, Trade Chief Officer Felix Kimaru urged the contractor to deliver the project in the shortest time possible without compromising on quality.
Kimaru also emphasized that the upgrade is in line with Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim’s fourth development pillar which aims at creating a conducive business environment for all traders across the county.
“This is not just about infrastructure. It’s about dignity for our traders, better service delivery, and economic empowerment,” said Kimaru.
Meanwhile, Huruma Member of County Assembly (MCA) Wanjohi Kimani echoed the CO’s sentiments, applauding the initiative as a game-changer for the Kahoya trading community.

“These works will greatly improve conditions for our traders, encouraging business growth and boosting the local economy,” he noted.
In a show of community involvement, the Kahoya Market Committee also committed to closely monitoring the construction process to ensure it meets expectations and stays on track.
With construction underway, traders and residents alike are optimistic that a modernized market will soon become the new heartbeat of Kahoya’s local economy.
