Uasin Gishu is edging closer to becoming a manufacturing powerhouse as the Export Processing Zone Authority (EPZA) Flagship Project in Eldoret City nears completion.
This was revealed on Friday, September 11, 2026, by the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) Uasin Gishu Chapter Chairperson Willy Kenei, who is also a gubernatorial aspirant, after a courtesy visit to the project site to assess construction progress.
Kenei said construction of the modern industrial sheds is in its final stages, paving way for investors to take up spaces and start manufacturing operations.
“Electricity, water, waste management system and tarmac road is already connected to the modern industrial sheds ready for occupation,” Kenei said in a statement.
What will be at the EPZ Eldoret?
Once fully operational, the EPZ Eldoret project is expected to be a game-changer for the region. Kenei noted it will create thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities, stimulate local enterprise development and attract a wide range of support industries and services.
He added that the project will provide a major boost to value addition, manufacturing and export-oriented production in Uasin Gishu and the wider North Rift region.
Kenei highlighted that Export Processing Zones provide investors with a highly supportive and incentivized environment, including significant tax and other investment incentives designed to encourage manufacturing and production of export-oriented goods.
He called on both local and international investors, manufacturers and entrepreneurs to take advantage of the available industrial spaces and invest in Eldoret.
“The EPZA Eldoret project is a significant milestone in positioning our region as a competitive manufacturing and investment hub, while creating sustainable jobs and expanding economic opportunities for our people,” he said.

Kenei summed up the vision in five words: Investment. Manufacturing. Value Addition. Jobs. Economic Transformation.
“Eldoret is ready for investment. Uasin Gishu is ready for industrialisation,” he affirmed.
The EPZA Eldoret City project is one of the government’s flagship industrialization projects aimed at decentralizing manufacturing from Nairobi and Mombasa and positioning Eldoret City as the next industrial hub in Kenya.
