The Elgeyo Marakwet Department of Agriculture haw distributed coffee and potato seeds across Cherangany/Chebororwa, Sambirir, and Kapsowar wards.
According to Governor Wisely Rotich, the exercise was part of ongoing agricultural empowerment programme aimed at boosting household incomes and enhancing food security.
A total of 30,000 coffee seedlings were distributed, alongside 400 bags of certified potato seeds in Kapyego Ward.

The second phase of the exercise is expected to be conducted in Chepkorio, Kamariny, Tambach, and Kapchemutwa wards, where another 30,000 coffee seedlings and close to 500 bags of certified potato seeds will be distributed to farmers.
“We are supporting farmers through provision of quality farm inputs, improving agricultural productivity, and creating sustainable economic opportunities for our people,'” Governor Rotich said.
Early this month, the governor had also shared how Kipchumwa location was slowly picking up from the deadly 2019 landslide courtesy of Agriculture.
The area chose bulb onions as its cash crop under the county’s pesa mfukoni initiative.

“It is possible to eradicate poverty at household level through our wealth creation program,” the county boss said while sharing photos of farmers’ bumper harvest.
“As we work on roads, health, sports and agriculture, we urge households to support our transformation by accepting to adopt the ventures given by the county,” he added.
