Elgeyo Marakwet: List of Members of County Transport and Safety Committee

Elgeyo Marakwet County Governor Wisely Rotich has appointed 7 members to the newly formed County Transport and Safety Committee (CTSC).

The Committee is drawn from various government departments.

  • Emmy Kosgei – Roads and Infrastructure County Executive Committee Member (CECM).
  • Philip K. Cheptoo – Matatu Sector.
  • Josphat Kerich – Town Administrator.
  • Kipyego Murei – Base Iten.
  • Silas Kiplagat – Director trade.
  • Isaac Kibet – National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA)..
  • Ezekiel Koech – Regional Manager National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

What is the role of Elgeyo Marakwet County Transport and Safety Committee

The committee will oversee the management and regulation of the road transport systems by authority within the County.

In addition, the committee will prepare and submit reports as the authority may require on safety, reliability and efficiency of the road transport systems and advice the authority on matters affecting the road transport systems within the County.

Elgeyo Marakwet road accidents

Each year, road crash fatalities and injuries have continued to increase where the most affected are pedestrians and motorcyclists who account for 70 percent of all fatalities and injuries.

The County registered 16 fatalities in the year 2023-2024.

With the appointment, it’s expected that the committee will spearhead the modalities on reducing these fatalities and injuries by 50 per cent.
