Drys Girls Water Project Nears Completion, Set to End Water Shortage in The School

Drys Senior Girls Secondary and Drys Comprehensive Primary Schools are set to benefit from a more reliable water supply following the near completion of the Drys Girls Water Project in Olare Ward, Ainabkoi Sub-County.

The project, which is now 90 per cent complete, is expected to ease longstanding water challenges faced by the two learning institutions and improve access to safe and reliable water for the school communities.

Progress on the project was confirmed during an inspection by engineers Celestine Kigen and Boaz Korellach, who commended the quality of work undertaken, noting that the project met the required standards for long-term benefits and sustainability.

The scope of works includes the installation of a water pump and solar power system, a rising main, and distribution mains to facilitate the delivery of water to the intended beneficiaries.

Water shortage challenge at Drys Girls Senior School

Project chairman Mzee Kebenei expressed satisfaction with the progress, recalling the prolonged water shortages that had affected the schools, particularly students who were often forced to leave the school compounds in search of water whenever the school well dried up.

With the project nearing completion, the schools are expected to experience significant relief from these challenges, creating a more conducive learning environment while reducing the burden on students and school administrators.

The initiative is part of ongoing efforts by Nguzo Number 7 to strengthen access to reliable water supplies and bring essential services closer to communities across Uasin Gishu County.

Once completed and fully operational, the Drys Girls Water Project is expected to provide a lasting solution to the schools’ water challenges, reinforcing the importance of sustainable water infrastructure in supporting education and community development.
