Farmers to Access 3m Bags of Subsidised Fertiliser in January

The government has started preparations for the upcoming planting season.

As part of the preparations, Agriculture Principal Secretary Kiprono Rono visited the Eldoret National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) depot.

Rono said the visit was to assess NCPB’s readiness in distributing the subsidized fertilisers to farmers.

Agriculture PS Kiprono Rono visited NCBP Eldoret depot on December 22, 2025.

According to the PS, the government has already made arrangements to ensure there are at least 3 million bags of fertilizer from January 2026.

I commend the efforts made to ensure timely availability of inputs and urge all farmers to collect their fertilizer early,” PS Rono said.

As part of our preparedness, we had already planned for 3 million bags by January, and farmers have successfully received their e-vouchers to facilitate access,” he added.

The Ministry of Agriculture has already issued e-vouchers for over 3 million bags of subsidized fertilisers.

He further affirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that every farmer is equipped with quality inputs which is critical for boosting productivity, enhancing food security, and driving prosperity across the agricultural sector.

The government has for the last two planting seasons provided farmers with subsided fertilizer at Ksh 2,500 per 50 kilogram bag.

Planting season for maize farmers in the North Rift region is expected to begin in February 2026.
