The 3rd Edition of The Great Chepsaita Cross Country Run 2025 has officially been launched.
Race patron Farouk Kibet presided over the launch event on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Chepkemel Dispensary Grounds in Turbo, Uasin Gishu County.
When will the 2025 Chepsaita Cross Country Run be held?
The event marked the countdown to the prestigious race set for Saturday, December 6, 2025.
The Great Chepsaita Cross Country Run, recognised as a Gold Level race on the World Cross Country Tour by World Athletics, is expected to attract over 10,000 participants from more than 20 countries across 12 race categories.
Top athletes, including global stars, will compete for a prize pool of Ksh 20 million, while an additional Ksh 20 million in scholarships will benefit over 20 schools.
More than 30,000 spectators are expected, with the event also featuring a free medical camp on December 2, 2025 and business opportunities for local SMEs through exhibitions and bazaars.
The run, themed “Run for Education,” continues to blend world-class athletics with life-changing community impact.
How did Chepsaita Cross Country raise to help needy students?
Speaking at the event, Kibet announced plans to increase sponsorship to more students.
“My dream has always been to educate as many students as possible. Last year, we had KSh 16 million in sponsorship. This year, we want to give more than KSh 20 million,” the race patron said.
He further noted that the event is also aimed at helping build roads, connect more homes to power and clean water, among other initiatives meant to benefit society.
“The Great Chepsaita Cross Country Run has always been about nurturing talents. We want to make it better for young girls and boys at the local and international level. We want a combination of education and running. This can only happen if people come together,” he noted.
