Farmers in Uasin Gishu County can finally access OCP fertiliser from the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) depot.
The farmers have been up in arms over lack of the OCP fertiliser at NCPB depots, forcing some of them to take other brands that they don’t often use to plant.
On Friday, April 3, 2026, a first consignment of the fertiliser was delivered at the NCPB Eldoret depot.

Soy Member of Parliament David Kiplagat who was at the depot when the fertiliser arrived said the latest development marks a key milestone in ensuring that farmers the North Rift are adequately prepared for the upcoming maize planting season.
“Together with the Regional Manager, North Rift Cereals, Mr. Gilbert Rotich, we officially received the first consignment of OCP fertilizer at the Eldoret National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) after flagging of on Tuesday in Mombasa port,” Kiplagat said.
“This delivery is part of the Government’s broader initiative to import and distribute 12.5 million 50kg bags of subsidized fertilizer across the country,” he added.

The legislator further said they remain committed to supporting farmers through access to affordable farm inputs, boosting agricultural productivity, and strengthening food security across the region.
On Tuesday, March 31, 2026, Agriculture Principal Secretary Dr. Paul Kipronoh Ronoh flagged off the distribution of two million bags of fertiliser at the Port of Mombasa.
The consignment was to be delivered to 352 NCPB depots across the country, where farmers can access it.
