Former Uasin Gishu Senator Isaac Melly is set to make a return to the public limelight.
This is after President William Ruto nominated him to be a member of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
Melly who served as a pioneer Uasin Gishu Senator from 2013 is now just a vetting step away from getting the plum state job.
His name has already been forwarded to the National Assembly for consideration.
He has been nominated to represent the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) at SRC.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula confirmed receipt of the former Senator’s name from the President.
“I wish to convey a message from the President relating to the nomination of a representative of the Parliamentary service commission to the Salaries and remuneration commission,” Wetangula told Members of Parliament early this week.
“In this regard, the President now seeks the approval of the nominee by this House,” he added.
The President settled on the former Senator from a list of 10 candidates that the PSC had nominated.
Vetting
Others were former legislators Naomi Shaban (Taveta MP), Florence Mutua (Busia County Woman MP), David Were (Matungu), Peter Mwathi (Limuru) and Jimmy Angwenyi (Kitutu Chache North).
With the receipt of the name, the relevant parliamentary committee will now consider his name and should he convince them in the vetting, a report will later be tabled to MPs for final approval.
Once approved, he will be formally appointed by the President.

Melly failed to win the Jubilee party ticket in 2017, losing to Margaret Kamar during the nomination, who went on to win the seat in the general election.
In 2022, he was eying the Soy parliamentary seat but also failed to win the UDA ticket which went to the current MP David Kiplagat.
Kiplagat has since congratulated the former Senator for his nomination.
“On behalf of the people of soy and my on behalf I would like to take this earlier opportunity to thank HE The President for nominating Hon Sen. Isaac Melly to be the Commissioner in SRC. Congratulations Hon Isaac melly and we shall support him in the remaining parliamentary approval process,” the MP said in a Facebook post dated April 18, 2023.
