Kapseret Member of Parliament aspirant Frank Murgor has resigned from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Murgor announced his resignation on Tuesday, March 1, 2022.
In a statement shared on his Facebook page, the Kapseret MP aspirant said the decision was in relation to the upcoming UDA party primaries which he noted would have many challenges.
“For the past few weeks, together with my team, we have been pondering the nomination process for the party UDA, which is a very popular party in this region. I have, in my opinion, concluded that the said party will have a lot of challenges during the nomination process,” Murgor said, in part of the lengthy statement.
“For these and other personal reasons, and after careful consideration, I have resigned from the UDA party,” he added.
Frank Murgor, a biomedical expert will now be vying for the seat as an independent candidate.
But even though he has decamped from UDA, Murgor says he still supports Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential bid.
“I will vote for William Ruto because I believe in and support his agenda for our country. I am not in any way going against the deputy president,” he said.
He also asked his supporters not to be misled by what he termed as propaganda that his opponents have been using to push him out of the UDA.
Murgor further says he will not be associated with other candidates vying on an independent ticket in the region.
A number of politicians considered rebels by DP Ruto allies, among them Moiben MP Silas Tiren and Dr. Swarrup Mishra of Kesses have said they would vie as Independent candidates.
“Let me also make it clear and be on the record that I will not be affiliated with any other candidate running on an independent ticket in this region,” Frank Murgor said.
His withdrawal from UDA gives Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi an almost assured chance to clinch the UDA ticket.
Sudi will now face off against former MP David Koros and former Simat/Kapseret Member of County Assembly (MCA) Pauline Tuwei in the UDA nominations.
The nominations are scheduled for between April 9 and 16th.
