Fuel Prices Drop by Ksh2

The Energy and Petroleum Authority (EPRA) has announced a drop in fuel prices for the next month.

In the latest review of the process for between October 15 to November 15, 2022, the energy regulator said the cost of a litre of petrol, diesel and kerosene will drop for Ksh1, Ksh2 and Ksh1 respectively.

In accordance with Section 101(y) of the Petroleum Act 2019 and Legal Notice No.192 of 2022, EPRA Kenya has calculated the maximum retail prices of petroleum products which will be in force from 15th October to 14th November 20227,” EPRA said in a statement issued on Friday night.

Taking into account the weighted average cost of imported refined petroleum products and in line with Government policy, the changes in the maximum allowed petroleum pump prices in Nairobi are as follows: Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene decrease by Kshs 1.00 per litre, Kshs 2.00 per litre and Kshs 1.00 per litre respectively,” the energy regulator added.

Further, EPRA said a subsidy of Ksh18.15 per litre and Ksh27.47 per litre has been maintained for Diesel and Kerosene respectively “in order to cushion consumers from the otherwise high prices.”

The authority further said the Government will utilise the Petroleum Development Levy to compensate oil marketing companies for the difference in cost.

With the latest changes, a litre of petrol in Nairobi will retail at a maximum price of Ksh178 30, Ksh163.00 for Diesel and Ksh146.94 per litre for Kerosene.

In Nakuru, a litre of petrol will be sold at a maximum of Ksh177.62, Ksh162.82 (Diesel) and Ksh146.39 for Kerosene.

For motorists in Eldoret, they will be purchasing a litre of petrol at a price not exceeding Ksh178.50 per litre, Ksh163.72 for Diesel while Kerosene will retail at Ksh147.57 per litre.
