George Natembeya Dismisses 5 CECMs, Assigns Their Responsibilitues to Remaining Ones

Trans Nzoia County Governor George Natembeya has dismissed five County Executive Committee Members Members in his latest reorganisation of his administration.

In an Executive Order dated 10th January 2025, Natembeya reassigned roles held by the dismissed CECMs to five remaining ones.

Natembeya’s latest move has raised eyebrows from concerned members of the public.

According to the Executive Order seen by Uasin Gishu News, the county boss said the action is in line with the Constitution of Kenya and the County Government Act 2012.

The fired county executives include Bonface Wanyonyi (Water, Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change), Jackson Amboka (Education and Technical Training) and Julia Kichwen who was in charge ofnthe Public Service Management docket.

Others are Patrick Gacheru (Trade, Industrialization, Tourism, and Cooperative Development), and Stanley Kirui (Gender, Youth, Sports, and Culture).

Remaining Trans Nzoia CECMS

Chanelle J. Kittony, in charge of Public Works, Transport, and Energy will now double up as CECM for Gender, Youth, Sports, and Culture in an acting capacity.

Dr. Pepela Wanjala, in charge of Finance and Economic Planning, will also act as the executive committee member for Water, Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change the position he held previously.

Health Services and Sanitation CECM, Samson Ojwang’, the CECM, will also be in charge of Public Service Management, the first docket he held in 2022.

Phanice Khatundi, currently in charge of Agriculture, Irrigation, Livestock, and Fisheries, will also act as the CECM for the sensitive department of Lands, Housing, Physical Planning, and Urban Development.

Janerose N. Mutama, a secondary school teacher who served as the Lands, Housing, Physical Planning, and Urban Development will also head to the Department of Education and Technical Training.

Stanley Kirui, Janerose Mutama and Truphosa Amere, the County Secretary were saved by the Eldoret Employment and Labour Relations Court after they were impeached by Trans Nzoia County Assembly Members of County Assembly late last year.
