Soy United to Play Its Home League Games at Kipchoge Keino Stadium

Soy United FC has officially changed its stadium.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Division One Zone B team has been playing its home matches at Ivugwi Primary School Grounds in Kakamega County.

However, going forward, the team will host all its league matches at Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret City.

This is after FKF approved their request to change their home ground from Ivugwi to Eldoret starting this January.

The team trained at their new ground on Friday ahead of their first league game of the year set for Sunday, January 12, 2025, against Hill Side FC.

Why Soy United moved to Kipchoge Keino Stadium

Soy United FC Patron Edwin Ayiro said their decision to shift from Likuyani to Eldoret was informed by the teams need to grow its fan base.

Eldoret was once a football epicentre where teams like RIVATEX and Eldoret KCC dominated the national league.

Kipchoge Keino Stadium will give us a good image and with Eldoret being a cosmopolitan city, we’re looking forward to going back to the RIVATEX days,” Ayiro said.

We want to create a fan base around this city like its the case with AFC Leopard and Gor Mahia,” he added.

Similar sentiments were also shared by Head Coach Samuel Twago.

The coach further admitted that with his team playing at Kipchoge Keino Stadium, more fans are likely to attend their matches.

Ivugwi ground was small and limited attendance of fans. That won’t be a challenge with us playing at Kipchoge Keino Stadium,” he said.

Players also welcomed the new stadium.

Captain Moses Osoi said the stadiums surface will enable them to play the tiki-taka game they are known for.

We will ensure the fans enjoy our game,” he said.

Soy United FC is currently second on the FKF Division One Zone B league table with 25 points after 11 games, 5 behind league leaders who have played a game more.
