Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii on Tuesday hosted the Deputy British High Commissioner to Kenya, Leigh Stubblefield, who paid a courtesy call at his office in Eldoret.
The meeting was to discuss potential areas of investment that could further enhance the economic growth in the region.
During the meeting, Governor Bii and Stubblefield explored various investment opportunities, focusing on the establishment of a multi-complex maize milling plant, potato cold storage, and avocado pack house.

These ventures have the potential to significantly contribute to the local economy by creating job opportunities and boosting agricultural productivity.
Governor Bii expressed his commitment to the implementation of these projects, highlighting the importance of diversifying the local economy.
Value addition
He also emphasized the need for value addition on agricultural products, which would not only increase their market value but also attract more investors in the region.
The County boss further shared his plans for the establishment of aggregation centers as well as the Export Processing Zone (EPZ) with the sole aim of reviving the local economy.
On her part, the Deputy British High Commissioner to Kenya commended Governor Bii for his vision and commitment to economic growth.

In addition, she expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to explore potential investment opportunities in the region.
Moreover, the envoy assured the Governor of the British government’s support and willingness to collaborate in these ventures.
The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) of Trade, Industrialization, Tourism, Cooperatives and Enterprise Development Martha Cheruto reiterated the department’s dedication to promoting trade.
She also highlighted the various initiatives and policies put in place by the county government to streamline trade processes and remove barriers to investment.
Cheruto emphasized the importance of collaboration between the county government and the British High Commission in creating opportunities for trade and investment.
Among those present in the meeting included Chief of Staff Nicholas Chepkwony and Municipality Manager Tito Koiyet.
