The Uasin Gishu gubernatorial contest had been a tightly contested one – but with the results now out, Jonathan Bii will be flying the UDA ticket, against billionaire businessman Bundotich Zedekiah Kiprop who is vying for the seat, for the second time as an Independent Candidate.

In the equally tight Senate race, Governor Jackson Mandago was declared the winner after garnering 75,847 votes.

His closest competitor lawyer Kipchumb Karori had 55,854 votes while broadcaster Robert Arap Kemei was third with 32,157 votes.

Karori has already disputed the results, claiming they were doctored in favor of Mandago.

The youthful lawyer says he has already instructed his lawyers to lodge an official complaint with the UDA Dispute Resolution Tribunal, seeking a repeat of the nomination.

Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Boss Shollei clinched the UDA ticket with 94,343 votes, ahead of Rael Chebichii who had 54,961.

Earlier, tension was building around Hill School, the County tallying center for UDA nominations in Uasin Gishu as locals were getting uncomfortable with the delay in the release of the results.

The delay was however because of two Constituency tallying centers – Turbo and Moiben – that had not yet submitted their final results.

It took the intervention of nominated Senator Millicent Omanga to deliver the Moiben results, even as the disputed Moiben MP seat race were also not announced.

In other constituencies, Oscar Sudi won the Kapseret UDA ticket, David Kipkagat (Soy), Samuel Cheokonga (Ainabkoi), Janet Sitienei (Ainabkoi), and CPA Julius Ruto who won the Kesses MP UDA ticket.
