Jonathan Bii Dares Soy MP to Vie for Governor’s Seat in 2027

Bad blood between Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim and Soy Member of Parliament David Kiplagat played out in public on Sunday during a fundraising event for traders affected by recent fire incident at Moi’s Bridge township.

The two leaders have not been seeing eye to eye despite coming from the same constituency.

Public outburst between the two started when the Soy MP accused the Governor of neglecting the township.

The legislator further demanded that Moi’s Bridge township must have a fire station in the next three months.

If we do not get a fire station, I will mobilise traders to stop laying levies to the county,” Kiplagat said.

His sentiments did not sit well with Governor Dr Bii who accused the MP of disrespect and inciting traders.

The governor went further to dare Kiplagat to vie against him in 2027.

I’m a governor elected by the people and if you feel like you want my job, come we face off in 2027,” Bii angrily hit back.

Both leafers are serving their first terms and were elected on a United Democratic Alliance ticket.

The Soy MP also faced criticism from other leaders present for the manner in which he addressed the county boss.

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi asked him to focus on his job of serving his constituency.

Nandi Governor Stephen Sang on his part asked leaders to avoid public spats and instead use other channels to solve any issues amongst them.
