Two Members of the Uasin Gishu County Assembly (MCAs) who recently vied on a Jubilee ticket and won have shifted allegiance.
Over the weekend, the two MCA-elects – Francis Muya of Langas and Kimani Wanjohi (Huruma) held a meeting with President-elect Dr William Ruto at his Karen residence in Nairobi.
While details of the meeting remain unknown, it is thought the two agreed to work with the Kenya Kwanza Coalition.
Muya and Wanjohi have been key pillars in campaigning for the Azimio coalition in Uasin Gishu County.

The Langas MCAs is the Jubilee party chairman in the county.
Both MCAs won against strong UDA competitors.
Photos of the two meeting Dr Ruto were first posted by the Huruma MCA-elect Kimani Wanjohi on his Facebook account.
But while sharing details of the meeting, Wanjohi controversially claimed that they discussed the need to establish an Eldoret town constituency.
“Among the issues we agreed is the inclusion of all business and job opportunities in Uasingishu county government, conducive business environment for our traders and inclusion of all communities in Boundary review process in an effort to have Eldoret Town Constituency,” said the Huruma MCA-elect.
Wanjohi later disowned the post, branding it fake – even though it was on his own Facebook account – before he later deleted it.

During the meeting, the two MCAs were accompanied by the ODM Turbo Member of Parliament candidate Samson Kimani Mugo alias Samkiz.
Samkiz was the Azimio candidate in the constituency, and finished a distant second, to winner Janet Sitienei Rotich.
Risk losing seats
However, Dr Ruto has not posted photos of the meeting on his social media pages, as he has done with MPs that have joined his side.
The two Jubilee MCAs met the President-elect just days after the party’s Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni warned that any elected legislator that supports a different political coalition risks losing their position.
“Any member of the Jubilee Party exhibiting wayward behaviour and planning to switch from one party to another should know that they risk losing their seats. Remember we had a pre-election coalition agreement which we would want to remain faithful to for the next five years,” Kioni said on Friday, August 19, 2022.
With 30 MCAs in Uasin Gishu, only four were not from UDA – the two who won on Jubilee ticket and the other two independents.
